Assess my carbon footprint ?

Discover how it is done

The quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals according to ISO 14064-1:2018 standard using the Bilan Carbone® or GHG Protocol® methodologies.

The objectives of such evaluation are to :

  • Identify the impacts and dependencies on climate of the organisation
  • Set reductions targets according to the international and sectorial best practices, requirements and pathways
  • Develop and implement an action plan aiming to avoid and reduce GHG emissions, offset the remaining abated emissions and remove carbon from the atmosphere
  • Disclose the results, indicators, targets and action plan on international database such as the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)

Tailor-made carbon studies co-constructed with your teams

Step 1: Diagnosis

  •  Understand your business and objectives
  • Raise awareness among your management committee and teams
  • Map your flows (inputs and outputs via surveys and interviews)
  • Identify relevant emissions factors in your sector
  • Presentation of results

Step 2: Define your action plan

  • Define your reduction pathway
  • Identify and describe your actions
  • Plan their implementation
  • Measure your results and improve your strategy accordingly

Step 3: Capitalize on your achievements and future actions

  • Celebrate your successes
  • Promote and share your best practices
  • Integrate this approach into the culture of your organisation

Here are some answers to our most asked questions about our carbon studies

What is a GHG Protocol ?

A GHG Protocol assesses the quantity of greenhouse gases (GHG) emitted by the activities of an organisation over a given period according to the ISO 14064 standards.

What is carbon sequestration ?

Carbon sequestration is the long-term storage of carbon outside the atmosphere. It is achieved naturally through biological, geological and aqueous processes. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), safeguarding and restoring forests and wetlands offers the greatest potential for carbon sequestration.

Why carry out a GHG Protocol ?

In addition to taking action for the climate, carrying out a GHG Protocol enables you to analyse all your flows, even those with the least economic impact, to optimise them.

This approach offers strong performance potential, while adding an extra-financial dimension to your organisational strategy.

What is carbon offsetting ?

Carbon offsetting consists in balacing the GHG emissions of an organisation by financing projects that reduce other emissions or sequestrate carbon.

While the financing of such projects is virtuous, offsetting should only be used to offset the abated GHG emissions of an activity that cannot be avoided or reduced.

What is carbon neutrality ?

According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), carbon neutrality consists of “removing from the atmosphere as much carbon as we emit” over a given period, in order to “limit the increase in global temperature”. The formulation “Carbon neutrality” only makes sense at the level of the planet, or even a country, and not that of an organisation, a product or a service, which can only contribute to the global objective of carbon neutrality.

What is greenwashing ?

According to ADEME, the term greenwashing is used “to qualify any advertising message that may mislead the public about the real ecological quality of a product or service, or about the reality of the sustainable development approach of an organisation”.
